Robyn Bargh, Te Arawa, Ngãti Awa, is the Managing Director of Huia Publishers Ltd, a Wellington based publishing and communications company. Following three years as an educational researcher and editor in Papua New Guinea and seven years in the New Zealand Public Service, Robyn set up Huia Publishers in 1991. Her aim was to increase the Mãori voice in New Zealand literature by identifying and promoting Mãori writers. Huia Publishers is actively involved in the revitalisation of the Mãori Language and is developing a range of educational resources for Mãori medium schools in association with Mãori writers and educationalists. In 1996 Huia Communications was set up to provide public relations services to government and other agencies wishing to communicate with Mãori.
Robyn is also Chair of Taki Rua Productions and a trustee on the Te Reo Mãori Television Trust responsible for the establishment of Mãori Language television. She is a member of the NZ Publishers Association, the NZ Booksellers Association, the Institute of Management and the Institute of Directors.
