PSSM 2001: Public Service in a Crowded Age
Innovation and stability: meeting the challenge

The eleventh annual Public Service Senior Management (PSSM) Conference will be held at Te Papa Tongarewa, Museum of New Zealand in Wellington on Thursday 18 October 2001. The conference is an invitation-only event for public service and state sector chief executives and senior managers.

The purpose of the PSSM is to reinforce the common values and collective identity of the Public Service. It is one of very few opportunities to lift senior public servants' minds out of the daily grind and to stimulate and interest them in the wider world. The objective of the PSSM is to unify, uplift and challenge senior managers.

The State Services Commissioner will open the conference, with the Minister of State Services, the Honourable Trevor Mallard, immediately following. Katrina Ings, Regional Commissioner, Waikato from the Ministry of Social Development will close the conference, laying down a challenge about where to from here for senior managers. Ian Fraser, chief executive of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and well-known broadcaster, will chair the conference.
